Just Announced: Jeff McBride!

Master of Masks
King of Cards

JEFF MCBRIDE

DIRECT FROM TV'S
"MASTERS OF ILLUSION!"

JEFF MCBRIDE LIVE!
NEW SHOW! NEW MASTER CLASS!

I.B.M. Ring 50, the National Capital Ring, is pleased to announced that
Jeff McBride will be headlining Magi-Whirl 2009. McBride, who is known for his innovative and practical approach to magic, will be presenting his new lecture and will headline the Public Gala Show on Saturday night.  See a video clip of his show, "Magic at the Edge."

Magicians who desire a more intensive workshop experience will want to stay after Magi-Whirl officially ends and join Jeff for his exclusive 4-hour "Secret Session Mini Master Class" on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from Noon until 4 p.m., also at Bishop Ireton.

Jeff McBride, a three-time award winner at the International Grand Prix of Magic in Monte Carlo, is widely recognized as a foremost innovator and most exciting performer in contemporary magic. Naming him "Vegas' Best" Magician several years ago, the Las Vegas Review Journal wrote: "Light years ahead of the pack... McBride is easily the most exciting and mesmerizing magician I've seen in years."

Jeff comes to us fresh from the success of his groundbreaking "Wonderground" magic experience in Las Vegas.

McBride's signature fusion of mask, myth, drama and illusion reflects his lifelong study of magic's multi-cultural roots. His first full-evening exploration of these themes, Mask, Myth & Magic, won acclaim Off-Broadway and on national tour, as well as at arts festivals in Barcelona (for the 1992 Olympics), London, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

For several years, McBride headlined at Caesars Magical Empire in Las Vegas, where he was voted critics' choice as Best Magician in Las Vegas. His magic has been featured on every major television network, with the most recent appearance on MyTV Network's "Masters of Illusion." Last summer, he was one of the judges on VH-1's "CelebraCadabra!" and has been highighted on  A&E's "Mindfreak" with Criss Angel. Previously his Mask & Card Act was featured on "World's Greatest Magicians" on NBC; he was Burned Alive on ABC's "Champions of Magic," and he was heavily featured as both performer and expert on PBS's "The Art of Magic" and TLC's "Mysteries of Magic." McBride has even "gone where no magician had gone before" as a special guest star on "Star Trek - Deep Space Nine."

Paul Green to Lecture at Magi-Whirl 2009!

I.B.M. Ring 50, The National Capital Ring, is pleased to announce that Magi-Whirl 2009 will feature a special lecture from the Magic Castle's 2008 Close-up Magician of the Year, Paul Green.

Paul Green's magic is designed to be performed for real people—not the members of your local Magic Club. His magic has been proven before audiences at Hollywood's famed Magic Castle, Beverly Hills' most exclusive restaurants, the private homes of celebrities and numerous trade shows in North America, Europe and Asia. Refined and polished, there is material that will be prized by performers at every skill level.

Green has been named not only the Close-Up Magician of the Year but also Lecturer of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts at the Magic Castle. He was a columnist for The Magic Menu ("In the Trenches"), and his work has been published in GENII: The Conjurors' Magazine as well as MAGIC Magazine.

There will be a cornucopia of magic for everyone—from the professional to the hobbyist. Cards, Coins, Rope, and maybe something else. Dynamic Magic to entertain, make friends, and earn some money. In addition, Paul will share his business expertise in the fields of trade shows, corporate events, and restaurants. You can't lose.

Material covered in this 2½ hour-plus lecture will come from his lecture notes as well as his DVDs on the Classic Force; In the Trenches; Live at the Jailhouse; and his newest release, Card Warp Finale.

McBride Workshop Sunday April 19

Jeff McBride – Secret Session
4 Hour Master Class Workshop

A RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR BEGINNERS,
INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED MAGIC ENTHUSIASTS!

Would you like to...

• Learn new tools and techniques to help you create your own original presentations?
• Increase your effectiveness and self-awareness as a performer?
• Experience new techniques for planning, delivering and evaluating your own magic performances?
• Spend 4 inspiring hours studying magic with "one of the most influential magicians of the 20th century" (MAGIC Magazine)?

This session focuses on close-up, platform and stage magic. You will be taught practical magic that you will use. This is not a lecture but much, much more.
Sessions are specially tailored to the students attending. While not all of the below can be covered in a single session, possible subjects covered may include:

• Your Goal is a Dream with a Deadline
• Getting the Attention You Deserve
• Growing in Magic

• Creativity Exercises and Brainstorming Techniques
• Master Class Style Presentations with Feedback
• Getting the Most Out of the Magic you Already Perform

• Routining Your Show: The Seven Steps of Show Flow
• Character Development: Finding Who You Are
• Play Big and Pack Small: Maximizing Your Impact
• Theater Arts: Props, Blocking, Movement and Music

• Four Master Class Style Presentations with Feedback
• The Forbidden Secret of Magic
• Real Questions/Real Answers

Master Class is a technique often used to teach the performing arts. Participants watch some students who choose to perform and then are given extensive feedback by the teachers on their performance. As you observe this process you learn what is important for your own magic performances.

The Master Class has proven to be an effective and exciting way to learn and gain important insights into your own magical work – and the Secret Session Workshop provides you with the Master Class experience in miniature, without the expense of traveling all the way to Las Vegas.
